Karen Fawley
The first time Karen became aware of Pilates was from an article that appeared in a Sunday tabloid in 2002. It discussed how it could help women with gynaecological problems by exercising and massaging the organs of the reproductive system. Having endometriosis in the worst possible form she started classes with a lady in Sheffield who had trained with the Pilates Foundation. Her pain began to subside for the first time in years as Pilates became part of her daily routine.
She realised at this stage that it was time to deal with the symptons of Endometriosis from the outside of the body. This disease had took control of her both physiologically and psychologically for a major part of her life. Pilates helped Karen to overcome so many of the symptons of this disease that it is now part of her daily routine.
She would now like to pass on the experience and knowledge she has gained to help other women in similar situations. Pilates is an alternative therapy with a holisitic approach which helps to work the body as a whole. Using alternative therapy takes time and patience to feel the benefits, but once you begin to see and feel the difference it makes to your life it is remarkable.
